I have an intense soft spot for mysteries. Usually I push away the fact that most mystery

movies and books are unengaging until the plot twist, but Knives Out was something different. Not only was I invested throughout the entire movie, but I loved the screenplay, specifically the quick-witted dialogue of the Thrombey family. The exposition flowed seamlessly and it felt like this brilliant whodunnit could have happen in real life. Marta was notably very likeable from start to finish thanks to the acting of Ana de Armas. It felt important that the main character was a person of color being tormented by a rich, Caucasian family (very Get Out-esque).

UGH! The plot twists in this movie are simply the best I've ever seen. I watched this a few months ago and they're still ingrained in my head. Because Knives Out is so refreshingly new, yet still traditional, I feel like this could age well. While it obviously became by favorite mystery movie, it doesn't quite fit in my list of favorites overall because those on the list specifically make me feel emotions incomparable to normal media. I still loved it though.

8.5/10
