-a small introduction-

The next few movie reviews I wrote months back so they will sound not at all intelligent or interesting but bear with me. I've been watching lots of amazing movies recently and watched many videos on movie theories for further analysis. (thanks Film Theories, I subscribed) I figured that I should type even the bad ones to show my progress.

Call Me By Your Name (2017)

I watched this movie a few hours before some prestigious award show; I'm going to guess it was the 2018 annual Golden Globes. I remember browsing the nominations list and seeing Call Me By Your Name in almost every category. The youngest actor ever, Timothée Chalamet, the lead, was nominated as Best Actor. Due to all of its nominations and being critically acclaimed, I thought I had to watch this movie before the Golden Globes so I could cheer on Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer. One aspect that needs to be said (or typed in this case) is that the cinematography was astounding and takes you right to Crepe, Italy in the 80s. All 132 minutes of this motion picture are so incredibly stunning that I could never take my eyes off the screen. The summer was captured so beautifully Call Me By Your Name portrayed Elio's perspective of how he fell in love and (SPOILER ALERT) how he got his heart broken. At the end of the movie, you can infer that Elio's dad is also homosexual because of his heartwarming monologue with Elio. The lines in this scene are the most impactful and make you feel empathic toward the main character. The last scene, which is the end credit scene, was so powerful with an extremely long shot of Elio simply crying in front of the fireplace. The only part of the movie that bothers me is the age gap between Elio and Oliver. I gladly skipped all the inappropriate scenes. I can easily say that everything looked beautiful in this movie.
